What documents are required for transferring to the school from another educational institution?

All applicants wishing to enroll in the school must undergo entrance testing and an interview. After successfully passing the entrance assessments, the following documents will need to be provided:

– Copy/original of the birth certificate;
– Copy/original of both parents’ passports;
– Child’s passport;
– Four (3×4 cm) photos of the child;
– Medical certificate/card №086/026 (vaccination certificate №063);
– Application form;
– Admission application;
– Withdrawal certificate from the previous school attended by your child;
– Report card of the student’s achievements.

How is food organized at the school?
The school provides five balanced meals daily. The dining program at Oxbridge School is organized with children’s needs and healthy nutrition in mind. Special weekly menus are prepared for the children, including five meals throughout the day: breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. Breakfast often includes dairy products, cereals, bread, butter, and eggs. Lunch usually consists of protein-based dishes (meat, chicken, eggs), side dishes (grains, potatoes), vegetables (salads), and beverages. The afternoon snack is a light refreshment, such as a drink and various baked goods. Dinner typically includes proteins, carbohydrates, and vegetables, although it is slightly lighter than lunch. Water is usually available to children throughout the day. Quality control of ingredients and adherence to sanitary standards are essential in organizing meals. For children with allergies or special dietary needs, appropriate alternatives are usually provided. All food is prepared by the school’s chefs, ensuring high quality and freshness. Is there a school uniform?

Yes, wearing a uniform is mandatory. The school uniform can be purchased at our store located on the school premises.

Are grades given in the first grade?

In the first grade, students begin receiving grades starting from the third term.

Is it mandatory for a child to be able to read and write before entering the first grade?

We conduct entrance assessments to evaluate a child’s emotional, intellectual, and social readiness for school. It’s also important for us to get to know the child and their parents, discuss the school’s unique features, educational opportunities, and the family’s expectations. We do not assess skills in reading, writing, math, or knowledge of foreign languages.

What is assessed during the admission of students to the first grade?

When admitting students to the first grade, several factors are usually assessed, including:

– Age of the Student: Children are typically admitted to the first grade based on age, in line with established norms and regulations. For the IB section, children are admitted at the age of 6, while the Russian-speaking school accepts children from the age of 7.
– Speech Development: The child’s level of speech and language skills is taken into account.
– Psycho-Emotional State: Emotional stability and readiness for school are evaluated. School psychologists assess various skills through different tasks, including:
– Ability to plan and check actions, reason logically;
– Spatial orientation skills;
– Ability to switch from one task to another (concentration and shifting attention);
– Motor skill development, pace of work, and stamina;
– Ability to follow instructions and other developmental indicators.

– Physical Health: The child’s overall physical condition is checked.
– Preschool Preparedness: Basic skills such as counting, recognizing letters, colors, shapes, and other elementary abilities.
– Socialization: Ability to adapt to a new environment, independence, and interaction with other children.

What is the age for entering the first grade?

The first grade of the international section of our school admits students from the age of 6, while the Russian-speaking section admits children to the first grade from the age of 7.

Is there any extracurricular activity provided?

Both sections of the school offer creative clubs, sports activities, and additional classes that your child can attend based on their preferences and interests.

Extracurricular activities at Oxbridge International School encompass a variety of educational, creative, sports, and socio-cultural events that take place outside the regular school schedule.

The goal of extracurricular activities is to foster the all-around development of students, unlock their creative potential, develop various social skills, and create opportunities for self-realization and self-expression for each child. These activities may include various clubs (list below), sports sections, creative competitions and festivals, excursions, camps, volunteer projects, and much more.

Extracurricular activities allow children and teenagers to develop diverse skills and interests, socialize with peers and teachers in an informal setting, which supports personal growth and promotes health. These varied activities can greatly enrich the educational process, fostering a positive attitude toward school and learning overall.

Recently, our school held a humanitarian-themed event dedicated to our city. Students from grades 9-11 from “Diplomat,” “Sehriyo,” and “Oxbridge International School” participated. Tashkent is an ancient city that has undergone many historical trials. Therefore, the event included numerous questions and tasks related to history: quizzes, map analysis, and matching architectural landmarks to map locations.

Can a child transfer from one department to another?

Yes. Provided there are available spots in the class and the child successfully passes the testing, they may be transferred from one section to another.

What curriculum do the children follow?

The international section of our school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Students in the Russian-speaking section follow the national curriculum, supplemented with the Russian program, which places a special emphasis on mathematics and English.

What is the school schedule?

The working hours for the IB school are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The working hours for the Russian-speaking section are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

How many students are there in one class?

The maximum number of students per class in both sections is 24. In the upper grades, both in the international section (grades 11-12) and the Russian-speaking section (grades 10-11), students study according to their chosen specialization. Additionally, in the Russian-speaking section, English is taught in small groups that are divided based on language proficiency level.

What excursions and trips are organized?

The educational program in both school sections, as well as in kindergarten, includes educational trips around Tashkent, such as visits to museums, parks, exhibitions, and various organizations like banks, universities, factories, and plants.

In addition, our students participate in various tournaments, conferences, and competitions abroad. Students from our school have participated in and won prizes at the international HMCA conference in Seoul, South Korea. The Harvard Model Congress Asia is a global conference where international high school students learn about and gain experience in government by role-playing as U.S. government officials and representatives of various international political organizations. Students from more than twenty countries gather at the conference and work together to address global governmental issues.

It is worth noting that Oxbridge International School students were winners of the WSC World Cup held in Uzbekistan, Thailand, and the UAE. The World Scholar’s Cup is an annual international academic program involving over 15,000 students from more than 65 countries each year. This international academic competition provides students with a platform to practice public speaking, writing, and critical thinking skills. In addition to participating in the tournament, students can use this experience as part of their portfolio when applying to universities abroad.

On February 23, 2023, Oxbridge International School middle and high school students participated in the international conference “Model United Nations MIS MUN-2023” in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The theme of the conference was “Preventive Diplomacy and Global Citizenship.” The Model United Nations (MUN) is a major organization that brings together various nations to promote peace and security worldwide. The MUN-2023 conference is highly valuable for students, providing them with the opportunity to learn to tackle global human challenges, collaborate in joint work, and avoid repeating the mistakes of previous generations. Such cooperation inspires and encourages today’s youth to build a fair, peaceful, tolerant, and sustainable world.

The school’s football team has twice won prizes at the largest international youth tournament in Turkey. Teams from Uzbekistan, Germany, Lebanon, Russia, Kazakhstan, Austria, the Czech Republic, England, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Turkey, and other countries participated in the tournament. The matches were officiated by official referees and observers from Turkey.

When are the school holidays?

Students have a summer vacation and four seasonal breaks throughout the school year—two in the first semester and two in the second. The academic calendar is provided at the beginning of the school year.

During the school year, the breaks are as follows: fall (1 week), winter (2 weeks), spring (2 weeks), and summer (2 months).

How many terms are there in the school year?

There are four terms in one academic year.

From which countries do the teachers come?

Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Canada, France, Spain, Brazil, Turkey, South Africa, Iran, Philippines, Venezuela, Pakistan, Indonesia.

Is there a fee for taking the entrance test?

The registration fee for the entrance test is 400,000 UZS.

The amount paid (400,000 UZS) for the entrance test for one child allows them to take the test for both sections of the school (international/Russian-speaking sections).

Do children study other foreign languages?

In the Russian-speaking section of our school, the program includes three main languages: Russian, Uzbek, and English.

In the IB department, the educational program is conducted in English, and students also study Russian and Uzbek. Additionally, Spanish and French are offered starting from grade 3, allowing students to choose. There are also additional language clubs for Arabic, Spanish, and French.

Is there a dormitory on the school premises?

Oxbridge International School is a day school where children and teenagers study during the day, after which they return to their homes.

How can one get to the school? Is there a school bus?

The school is located at 10 Oymarik Street, Mirzo-Ulugbek District, Tashkent. Buses and shared taxis from all over the city provide access to this location.

There is no school bus service.

Is the IB department of the school accredited by the IBO?

Currently, this is the only accredited IB World School in Uzbekistan, offering students the opportunity to receive both a national high school diploma and an IB Diploma Programme certificate upon graduation.

In what year was the school built?

Oxbridge International School was built and began operating in August 2018.
